Samridh Palampur Samvad
A citizen-led plan for Palampur's growth, now with the district officers and departments who can implement it.
Context
Palampur is a pleasant town under growing pressure: more tourists, more construction, more waste, less water. Planning has not kept pace. The Samvad asked a simple question: what would a samridh (prosperous) Palampur look like if its own citizens planned it?
HITA’s role
HITA organised the process: we convened the participants, structured the working groups, and edited the output into a form that government offices can act on.
The process
Five groups of experts and local organisations wrote a working document covering five priority areas for the town’s growth. The groups mixed technical specialists with people who live and work in Palampur, so the recommendations are both sound and locally owned.
Outcomes and status
The working document has been presented to district and sub-division officers and departments, with the aim of getting its recommendations implemented through existing programmes and schemes. We continue to support that follow-through.
Reimagining a Samridh Palampur
The working document of the Samridh Palampur Samvad: recommended actions for the town across five priority areas, written by groups of experts and local organisations.
